My Irish-Canadian partner and I met in the Middle East where I had lived and worked for many years.

We travelled together to Africa, and considered starting a new life in either Kenya, Zanzibar or Morocco.

After a few years in Gibraltar, we discovered Gaucin: near to the coast, a quiet village, close to nature with amazing walking trails; it suited us.

I bought a house that had been empty for over 40 years; it had previously been the village school and then the notary´s office. We spent the next 3 years conducting a complete re-construction, only retaining the superstructure.

A great deal of thought went into the respective theme and related aesthetics of each of the rooms, including things that are very important to me.  For example, a painting in the Kenya Room that was a gift to me from renown Kenya artist Anthony Russell.

 Over time, we have experienced the welcoming nature of the people of Gaucin, whether they are residents or tourists.  We are very happy to have made many friends and acquaintances along the way.

Gaucin is also a charitable village, where we have been involved in fund raising events in recent years: Syria/Turkey, Ukraine, and Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders).
